National Computational Infrastructure
NCI National Facility
APAC'05, the APAC Conference and Exhibition on Advanced Computing, Grid Applications and eResearch
APAC'05 26 - 29 September 2005, Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast, Australia.
Theme: Empowering Research Communities
Host organisations: APAC and QPSF
Refereed papers encouraged.
Special exhibition facilities for Research Groups.

The need for advanced computing is increasing in both the research community and industry. The increased dependence on computational methods is requiring access to powerful computers, mass data storage systems, interactive visualisation systems and high speed Internet services.

Users are demanding services that make more efficient use of computing facilities in a distributed environment. They are also demanding services such as interactive visualisation and cooperative work environments that better support collaboration between distributed research teams.

These demands and the increased capabilities of advanced computing and communications systems have fuelled the concept of the gridthat will deliver more advanced services for dynamic, virtual organisations in research, government and industry.

In the research community, the grid will revolutionise the way research is conducted and will facilitate increased national and international collaboration. The benefits of the grid will eventually flow to all areas of research hence the term eResearch.

Why you should attend

APAC'05 provides a forum for researchers, developers, technologists and users to exchange ideas, experiences and research results related to advanced computing, grid applications and eResearch.

Keynote speakers are being invited to outline the latest research trends and applications.

A set of tutorials will be offered by leading practitioners to provide in-depth material on advanced computing and grid technologies.

APAC'05 is an opportunity for participants in the APAC Computational Tools and Techniques (CT&T), APAC Grid and Education, Outreach and Training (EOT) Programs to present the results of their activities. An APAC EOT Workshop is being planned to discuss and plan cooperative efforts in education, outreach and training.

APAC'05 will also provide an opportunity to discuss the plans for the next stage of APAC and you are invited to demonstrate your capability to participate in this stage.

APAC'05 will feature an Exhibition with the latest technologies in advanced computing and the grid. Research exhibits will also be encouraged to demonstrate the advances made in grid computing, data grids and cooperative working environments.
