Policy regarding acceptable resource usage

One of the criteria for allocating resources on the National Facility is demonstrated efficient use of the system by applicants. As the National Facility is a shared resource, it is only possible to service the high demand on the system if this efficiency is maintained in production use. As a result, the following guidelines should be followed:

This policy is intended to minimize avoidable waste of system resources and is not intended to limit actual resource usage. Bona fide requests for access to large system resources will be supported where possible and where they do not overly impact general usage. It is also recognized that some development work will, by its nature, be inefficient and will be deemed acceptable providing it is directed at achieving reasonable production resource usage.
